Kirk Cousins and Saquon Barkley, two prominent players in professional football, made surprising moves on Monday by joining the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively, shaking up the typically calm NFL offseason.

Cousins, currently the fifth-ranking passer among all active quarterbacks, parted ways with the Minnesota Vikings and inked a four-year contract with the Falcons, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.

The 35-year-old Cousins spent six seasons with the Vikings after a six-season stint with the franchise now known as the Washington Commanders.

While the NFL's 2024 schedule is yet to be revealed, both players are gearing up for new chapters with their respective teams this coming fall. The Falcons, interestingly, are scheduled to face the Vikings during the upcoming season.

Barkley, a three-time 1,000-yard rusher with the New York Giants, wrote on X: "Thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support over the past 6 years… forever grateful! Excited for the next chapter."

His next post was simply of two eagle heads.

Barkley, 27, was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2018 NFL draft out of Penn State.

He rushed for a single-season career high of 1,312 yards on 4.4 yards per carry in 2022, helping the Giants to a 9-7-1 mark and an unexpected playoff appearance.

Barkley and New York faced a downturn in the past season, with the running back accumulating 962 yards at a 3.9 average, and the Giants finishing with a 6-11 record. Despite this, Barkley remained a sought-after asset in the free-agent market, especially for Philadelphia, where he swiftly addressed a crucial team need.

Barkley's decision coincided with the Eagles losing their top rusher, as D’Andre Swift, a Philadelphia native, departed for the Chicago Bears.

As NFC East rivals, the Eagles and the Giants are slated to face each other twice in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, running back Tony Pollard, who achieved over 1,000 rushing yards in each of the past two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, reportedly reached an agreement with the Tennessee Titans, according to NBC affiliate KPRC of Houston.

Another noteworthy move involved running back Josh Jacobs of the Las Vegas Raiders, set to trade the desert for the frozen tundra of Green Bay, as reported by the NFL Network. Jacobs, 26, rushed for 805 yards last season, following his league-leading 1,653 yards in 2022.

This shift to Green Bay likely signals the release of Aaron Jones, concluding his Packers tenure with a remarkable 108-yard, 18-carry performance against the San Francisco 49ers in a playoff loss on Jan. 20.

Russell Wilson, a Super Bowl-winning quarterback released after two turbulent seasons with the Denver Broncos, announced on Sunday that he's heading to Pittsburgh for his 13th NFL season with the Steelers.

Only four weeks have passed since the Kansas City Chiefs secured their second consecutive Super Bowl title with a 25-22 victory over San Francisco in Las Vegas, marking their third championship in five years.
